Hernando

    1776
    What: A musical by Peter Stone and Sherman Edwards
    Where: Stage West Community Playhouse, 8390 Forest Oaks Blvd., Spring Hill
    When: Nov. 7 through 23
    Show times: Friday and Saturday, 8 p.m.; Sunday, 2 p.m.

Hillsborough

    Charley and Emma
    What: A staged reading of a new play by William Leavengood directed by James Rayfield
    Where: Gorilla Theatre, 4419 N. Hubert Ave., Tampa
    When: Monday, Nov. 17, 7 p.m.
    The History of the Devil
    What:Directed by David M. Jenkins, the trial of the new millennium is about to begin as Jobsite Theater revisits horror guru Clive Barker’s The History of the Devil.
    Where: Jobsite Theater, Shimberg Playhouse, Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, 1010 N. W.C. MacInnes Place, Tampa
    When: Oct. 30 through Nov. 16
    Show times: Thursday through Saturday, 8 p.m.; Sunday, 4 p.m.
    Les Miserables
    What:Directed by Glenn Hines, the Blake School of the Arts will present this production of Les Miserables, an emotionally moving tale of revolution, obsession, loyalty, friendship and love.
    Where: Masque Community Theatre, 8825 56th St., Temple Terrace
    When: Friday and Saturday, Nov. 21 and 22, 8 p.m.
    The Phantom of the Opera
    What: Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical The Phantom of the Opera, directed by Harold Prince, traces the tragic love story of a beautiful opera singer and a young composer shamed by his physical appearance into a shadowy existence beneath the majestic Paris Opera House.
    Where: Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, 1010 N. W.C. MacInnes Place, Tampa
    When: Oct. 30 through Nov. 22
    Show times: Tuesday and Wednesday, 7:30 p.m.; Thursday, 2 and 7:30 p.m.; Friday, 8 p.m.; Saturday, 2 and 8 p.m.; and Sunday, 2 and 7:30 p.m. There will be no 2 p.m. performance on Thursday, Nov. 13.

Manatee

    Hank Williams: Lost Highway
    What: A musical biography of the rise and fall of the legendary singer-songwriter.
    Where: Manatee Players, 102 12th St. W., Bradenton
    When: Oct. 30 through Nov. 16
    Show times: Tuesday through Thursday, 7:30 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 8 p.m.; and Sunday, 2 p.m.

Pasco

    Pasco Christmas
    What:: A holiday-themed show that has become an annual tradition.
    Where: Richey Suncoast Theatre, 6237 Grand Blvd., New Port Richey
    When: Nov. 28 through Dec. 7
    Show times: Friday and Saturday, 8 p.m.; and Sunday, 2:30 p.m.

Sarasota

    The Giver
    What: Based on the Newbery Medal-winning children’s book, The Giver is an unconventional hero’s tale set in a utopian world.
    Where: Asolo Repertory Theatre, Mertz Theatre/Cook Theatre/Historic Asolo Theater, 5555 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota
    When: Oct. 24 through Nov. 8
    Show times: Friday, 8 p.m.; and Saturday, 2 and 8 p.m.
    Barnum
    What: With music by Cy Coleman, lyrics by Michael Stewart and book by Mark Bramble, this Broadway hit sparkles with a cast of singers, actors, jugglers, clowns and tumblers.
    Where: Asolo Repertory Theatre, Mertz Theatre/Cook Theatre/Historic Asolo Theater, 5555 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota
    When: Nov. 15 through Dec. 20
    Show times: Wednesday through Saturday, 8 p.m.; Sunday,
    Golddiggers of 1633
    What: A fast-paced musical featuring a zany re-telling of the Moliere comedy.
    Where: Golden Apple Dinner Theatre, 25 N. Pineapple Ave., Sarasota
    When: Through Nov. 22
    Show times: Tuesday through Friday, doors open at 6 p.m.; Saturday, doors open at noon and 6 p.m.; and Sunday, doors open at 4 p.m.
    The Barber of Seville
    What: In Gioachino Rossini’s comic gem, Figaro uses his wits to out-scheme Dr. Bartolo and help Count Almaviva win his beloved Rosina.
    Where: Sarasota Opera House, 61 N. Pineapple Ave., Sarasota
    When: Nov. 7 through 16
    Show times: Friday, Nov. 7 and 14, 8 p.m.; Sunday, Nov. 9 and 16, 1:30 p.m.; and Wednesday, Nov. 12, 8 p.m.
    The House of Blue Leaves
    What: A dark contemporary comedy by playwright John Guare, award-winning writer and producer of Six Degrees of Separation.
    Where: The Players Theatre, 838 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota
    When: Nov. 18 through 23
    Show times: Tuesday through Friday, 8 p.m.; Saturday, 2 and 8 p.m.; and Sunday, 2 p.m.
    Nunsense!
    What: A musical comedy with book, music and lyrics by Dan Goggin, this production stars Sally Struthers.
    Where: Van Wezel Performing Arts Center, 777 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota
    When: Friday, Nov. 28, 8 p.m.; and Saturday, Nov. 29, 2 and 8 p.m.
