Heading south down Gulf Boulevard on St. Pete Beach, approaching the Pass-A-Grille community, you cant help but notice the Don CeSar Beach Resort, a landmark in Pinellas County. Built in 1928, the pink lady originally attracted notable guests such as F. Scott Fitzgerald, Lou Gehrig and even Al Capone. During World War II, it served as a convalescence facility for battle-weary American airmen. After falling into disrepair, investors purchased the building and restored it to its former glory.
Drive by the resort, continuing south, and as you enter Pass-A-Grille, Gulf Boulevard will become Pass-A-Grille Way.
