Located in the heart of Pinellas County at 11909 125th St. N., Largo, FL, Heritage Village is a unique, 21-acre living history museum set amongst a natural pine and palmetto landscape. Visitors will find dozens of Pinellas County's most historic buildings and features as they wander through the peaceful environment.
The McMullen House, shown above, was built by Daniel and Margaret McMullen in 1868. Daniel was one of seven McMullen brothers to settle in Pinellas. The family first arrived in the area in the early 1850s but found themselves drawn into the conflict during the Civil War years. Returning to the Largo area by wagon in 1865, they raised crops and livestock on their 160-acre homestead.
Built of native pine, the house consists of two formal rooms and two shed rooms connected by a "dogtrot breezeway" in a style known as "Florida Cracker." The McMullen family and their descendents lived in the home for 123 years with each successive generation adding on rooms and outbuildings.
