Festivities Planned for Fourth of July in Manatee and Sarasota Counties

Here are some more festivities celebrating Independence Day around the Tampa Bay area.

Manatee County

Festivities will kick on Thursday, July 3, 7 p.m., at the Beach House restaurant, 200 Gulf Drive N., Bradenton Beach. For the price of admission, guests will enjoy live music, dancing, food and a front row seat to a professional fireworks display. For those interested in only the fireworks, they will be visible from the beach. Call 941-228-3504.

The biggest celebration on Manatee County beaches will be the Privateers’ Parade, starting at 10 a.m., at Coquina Beach in Bradenton Beach, and heading north to Bayfront Park in Anna Maria. Call 941-778-0181.

The Fourth of July Celebration in Palmetto will begin at 11 a.m. along the Palmetto Riverfront and will feature live entertainment, food and fireworks at 9:30 p.m. Call 941-721-2138.

Sarasota County

In Sarasota, the Bayfront Fireworks Spectacular presented by the 24th annual Suncoast Offshore Grand Prix Festival will begin at 9 p.m. along the shore of Sarasota Bay near Island Park. The day will kick off at 10 a.m. with Powerboats By the Bay, Red White and Blue BBQ at Centennial Park on 10th Street. The event will feature live entertainment, food vendors and powerboats on display. From the Discovery Channel’s Deadliest Catch, Captain Keith Colburn of the Wizard, along with crew members, will be available for autographs and photos at noon, 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. Admission is free. Attendees are asked to consider bringing a cash donation or a new infant or children’s item for The Florida Center. Drop-off sites will include the Island Park entrance, Marina Jack and the Municipal Auditorium.

The Tropical Fourth of July Celebration will be an all-day affair at Selby Gardens, 900 South Palm Ave., Sarasota, with the gardens opening at 10 a.m. Festivities will include music, a costume contest for the most patriotic attire and lawn games for children. The evening will culminate with a community fireworks display along the bay front. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets. Admission is $15 for members, $18 for nonmembers. Children 12 and under are admitted free.
