Sand Key Park Boasts Two Distinct Recreation Areas:

Situated on the northern end of Sand Key, one of Pinellas County's barrier islands, Sand Key Park has been welcoming residents and visitors since 1994. The park is separated from Clearwater Beach by Clearwater Pass, an inlet leading from Clearwater Harbor to the Gulf of Mexico. A favorite destination for watching beautiful Florida sunsets, the park offers a wide array of recreational opportunities.

Sand Key Park's 95 acres is divided into two distinct areas:

  • The Park
Sand Key Park's traditional park section boasts two picnic shelters with grills, a playground and a restroom. In addition to the shelters, there are plenty of picnic tables scattered over the landscape, along with grills and water fountains. A fitness trail winds through the scenic backdrop. The park also features a Paw Playground -- a green, fenced area where unleashed canines may run free. The Paw Playground is fitted with cooling stations where overheated pups can enjoy a quick shower and dog-level water fountains.

  • The Beach

Shelling, sunbathing, swimming or surfing, Sand Key Park's beach area offers something for everyone. Lifeguards are on duty from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily from March through September. Visitors will find nine outdoor shower towers and two bath houses with changing stalls and restrooms. Cabana rentals and two beach wheelchairs are available.
