Fast-track Resurfacing Project Set To Start In Sarasota

Tuesday November 11, 2008

Sarasota County’s road resurfacing project will kick off on Wednesday, Nov. 12.

Sections of five roads, encompassing a total of 17.2 lane miles, will be resurfaced during the project. The first roadway segment to be tackled will be Beach Road from Midnight Pass Road to Ocean Boulevard on Siesta Key.

The $3.3 million resurfacing project, funded primarily by the penny surtax, is part of the county’s economic stimulus program of fast-track projects and will be conducted by the contractor APAC-Southeast Inc. of Sarasota.

Other road segments to be resurfaced include:

  • Beneva Road from U.S. 41 to State Road 72 and from Proctor Road to Bee Ridge Road
  • Bahia Vista Street from Tuttle Avenue to the Phillippi Creek Bridge
  • Central Sarasota Parkway from McIntosh Road to Turtle Rock Boulevard
  • Tuttle Avenue from Bee Ridge Road north through the traffic circle

Under terms of the contract awarded by the Sarasota County Commission, the project is scheduled for completion within 120 days. Door hangers will alert residents and businesses a few days before work begins on their street.

For more information about the resurfacing project, call 941-861-5000.
