Robert F. Kennedy To Kick Off USF Lecture Series
Political speaker and activist Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will kick off the University Lecture Series on Thursday, Sept. 4, 7 p.m., in the new Marshall Student Center Ballroom at the Tampa campus of the University of South Florida.
Kennedy, chief prosecuting attorney for Hudson Riverkeeper, authored the 2004 book Crimes Against Nature which criticized the environmental policies of the United States and the administration of President George W. Bush.
The ULS lineup currently features the following speakers:
- Wednesday, Oct. 8 – Dr. Drew Pinsky, 7 p.m. Pinsky is a board-certified internist and addiction medicine specialist. He hosts the syndicated radio talk show Loveline.
- Tuesday, Oct. 21 – Kelly Addington and Becca Tieder, 7 p.m. Addington and Tieder are cofounders of Unite For Change, a national campaign to end violence. This lecture is free.
- Wednesday, Nov. 5 – Ben Stein, 7 p.m. Stein, an economist, writer, educator and journalist, served as a speechwriter and lawyer for Presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford.
- Thursday, Nov. 6 – Austin Gutwein, 4 p.m. At age 10, Gutwein founded Hoops of Hope, an annual basketball shoot-a-thon that raises funds for projects to help children orphaned by AIDS.
- Thursday, Jan. 15 – Danny Glover and Felix Justice, 7 p.m. Justice and Glover will portray two of the greatest orators of the 20th century, Martin Luther King Jr. and Langston Hughes.
All ULS events are free for students with a valid USF ID. Alumni and faculty pay $5 with a valid ID and the general public is admitted for $10 (unless otherwise noted). Tickets for the Robert F. Kennedy Jr. lecture are now on sale at the Marshall Student Center ticket office in the new Marshall Center. The ticket office only accepts credit or debit.
