Ringling Museum to Screen Great Cinematic Musicals

The Sarasota Film Festival and the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art are hosting “A Summer of Song: The Great Cinematic Musicals” through Sept. 29.

Some of the best-loved classic movie musicals will be shown at the Historic Asolo Theater on Mondays, 7 p.m.

The schedule includes the following screenings:

  • July 21, 7 p.m. - Mary Poppins, starring Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke, 1964.
  • July 28, 7 p.m. - Moulin Rouge!, starring Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman, 2001.
  • August 4, 7 p.m. - West Side Story, starring Natalie Wood and Richard Beymer, 1961.
  • August 11, 7 p.m. - On the Town, starring Frank Sinatra and Gene Kelly, 1949.
  • August 18, 7 p.m. – Grease, starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, 1978.
  • August 25, 7 p.m. – Top Hat, starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rodgers, 1935.
  • September 1, 7 p.m. - Meet Me in the St. Louis, starring Judy Garland and Mary Astor, 1944.
  • September 8, 7 p.m. – Cabaret, starring Liza Minelli and Michael York, 1972.
  • September 15, 7 p.m. - An American in Paris, starring Gene Kelly and Leslie Caron, 1951.
  • September 22, 7 p.m. - The Music Man, starring Robert Preston and Shirley Jones, 1962.
  • September 29, 7 p.m. - My Fair Lady, starring Audrey Hepburn and Rex Harrison, 1964.
Tickets are $7 a film and are available by calling 941-360-7399 or online.
