Clearwater’s Dunbar, Finance Department Receive Awards
The Suncoast Chapter of the American Society of Public Administrators recently honored Clearwater with two prestigious awards during a ceremony at the University of South Florida.
Kevin Dunbar, the city’s director of parks and recreation, was given the Picot B. Floyd Public Service Leadership Award. The award acknowledges a public administrator in the Tampa Bay area who demonstrates effective leadership through managing conflict, delegating authority, encouraging subordinates to assume responsibility for decisions, offing innovative ideas and setting high standards of personal integrity and moral character.
The city’s finance department also earned recognition when it received the Public Management Innovation Award. The department’s Electronic Payment Processing System met the criteria for the award by exhibiting success through team cooperation, service consolidation, application of new technology, cost savings and increased effectiveness.
The American Society for Public Administration was established in 1939 and is a leading professional association in the field of public administration. The Suncoast Chapter has been active since 1971.
