Pinellas Schedules Free Dental Exams for Kids
The Pinellas County Health Department’s Dental Division will host its annual Back-to-School Event in the coming weeks, providing free dental exams to children ages 4 to 18 (some restrictions apply; see below).
According to a National Institute of Dental Research study based on NHIS data, children miss approximately 52 million school hours because of dental treatment or oral health problems. The county hopes to reduce that number significantly with this program.
According to a recent press release, children ages 4 to 18 will receive free dental exams and X-rays. Parents or guardians must accompany participating children.
The dental exams will be offered from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the following days at these locations:
- Wednesday, June 25: Tarpon Springs Health Center, 301 S. Disston Ave., 727-942-5457, ext. 111
- Wednesday, July 2: Largo Health Center, 12420 130th Ave., 727-588-4040, ext. 129
- Wednesday, July 9: Clearwater Health Center, 310 North Myrtle Ave., 727-469-5800, ext. 121
- Wednesday, July 16: Pinellas Park Health Center, 6350 76th Ave. N., 727-547-7780, ext. 103
- Wednesday, July 23: St. Pete Health Center, 205 Dr. Martin Luther King St. N., 727-824-6900, ext. 11034
Parents and guardians should be advised that children who are already seen through the Pinellas County Health Department’s dental clinic are not eligible for this event. This event is only open to children who are residents of Pinellas and Pasco counties. Children covered by private dental insurance are not eligible for this event. Children with Medicaid are eligible (the health department will bill Medicaid).
No appointment is necessary.
