Lowry’s Gator Falls Attraction Delayed

Sunday June 15, 2008

Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo has had to postpone the opening of Gator Falls, a new flume ride attraction.

Apparently, technical difficulties forced the park to cancel this weekend’s planned debut. According to Lowry Park Zoo, the manufacturer is currently working to try to diagnose the issues. The new White Gator exhibit, found within the Gator Falls area, also will not be accessible to visitors until the new ride opens.

When the attraction is unveiled, it’s sure to be a crowd-pleaser. Gator Falls will carry visitors through an area designed to resemble a historic “Florida Cracker” trail. Floating in logs, riders will get a birds-eye view of “Old” Florida before plunging over a 30-foot drop over an alligator paddock.

As soon as the manufacturer gives the green light, Lowry Park Zoo will announce a new opening date.
